Why not visit Old Port Montreal this summer?

On some level, most people would be correct when they imagine the old section of Montreal as having cobblestone streets and accordion players in crowded plazas. However, there is a hugely underappreciated area that has only lately begun to gain some attention and about which even locals know very little.

Here is all the information you require about Old Port Montreal, one of my favorite areas in my hometown, ladies and gentlemen.

Where in Old Port Montreal can I shoot pictures?

With their winding lanes and imposing mansions, Montreal’s Old Town in general and the Old Port in particular are undoubtedly pleasing to photographers; two of the city’s most popular locations are Rue de la Commune and Bassin de l’Horloge. Allow the fading atmosphere of the Old Port to lead your camera!

Montreal’s Old Port Food Tour

Without one (or two, or three…) delicious treats, a trip to Montreal wouldn’t be complete. My hometown is undoubtedly a gastronomy destination, but without an informed guide, it can be challenging to truly appreciate the breadth of our culinary legacy. Five stops and seven tastings are included in the three-hour, interesting, and reasonably priced food excursions of the Old Port and Old Montreal provided by Local Montreal Food excursions.

Habitat 67

Architect Moshe Safdie created Habitat 67, one of Montreal’s most recognizable housing complexes, for Expo 67. It provides visitors with a unique and frequently overlooked view of the city in addition to being incredibly picturesque on its own. You can even schedule a guided tour with professionals in architecture throughout the summer.

Old Montreal celebrations and activities

The almost unbelievably packed calendar of events that Old Port Montreal hosts throughout the year—from outdoor dance parties in January (yes, you read that right) to a whole weekend devoted to poutine (yes, it is a thing)—is one of the primary reasons it has become so popular in recent years. Let’s just say that visitors won’t be bored here.

Summertime is the best time to appreciate it! A high-rise medieval clocktower with breathtaking views of Montreal is part of this small but impressive Old Port site. Included as well? a fashionable, sandy beach that runs around the marina’s perimeter.

The museum was constructed above Montréal’s birthplace, a famous archaeological site that is exquisitely displayed in the museum’s permanent exhibition.
